Death in September

By Abrahim Harb

She felt the cold breeze creep up her legs,
it got colder as it reached her arms.

Then suddenly—
She felt an eerie sound and opened her eyes,

just as his cold, dead hands
took hold of her neck

She shrieked, and nobody came to her rescue,
as he shoved a sock in her mouth.

Somebody finally came to her rescue,
50 years too late.

Only to discover nothing but an empty,
abandoned apartment,
where the ghost haunts any dirty soul that enters her threshold.

She strangles them with her cold hands,
the same way she died that eerie September night.
