What will the fate of the universe be?

By Abrahim Harb

Two stars—
in the sky.
Choose the one,
you want to be…

Have you decided yet?
[she could never decide]
“It makes no difference”
I say with no reservation.

Knowledge she doesn’t know of,
but I do, comes to mind. I smile:
space expands—slowly of course!
We will never be closer.

We are two dots
on a deflated balloon.
Once blown up,
the space between us expands.

We will never be closer,
unless, of course,
the balloon bursts;
and by chance, we

fly past each other,
slowly catching up—
only to quickly
leave my orbit.

Once,
in a lifetime—
cliché,
truthful & genuine.

—is all you get.
